Hallock, Anita Almost 90, of Eden Prairie, passed away on February 21. She was an indomitable spirit and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. She was born Anita Laskin in Duluth, Minnesota in 1918. Prior to World War II, she worked with her father, David Laskin, and brother Sidney as a buyer and salesperson in the family business, Dave's Auto Parts, in Duluth. In 1947, she married Kopple Hallock of Hibbing, Minnesota. She worked along side her husband in the family business, Hallock's Clothiers in Hibbing, which was sold in 1980 after being in business for over eighty years. After moving to Minneapolis with Kopple in 1980, Anita
worked in several retail stores. She worked up to the age of 86. Anita
devoted most of her time to her family, but she was also a lifetime member of
Hadassah, past President of the Hibbing Chapter of the Council of Jewish
Women, and was involved in the Brandeis Society. She was enormously proud of
being an Iron Ranger. Preceded in death by her beloved husband, Kopple and
brothers Sylvester Laskin, Sidney Laskin and Arnold Cohen. Survived by son
and daughter-in-law, Robert and Fritzi Hallock of Baltimore, Maryland;
daughter Diane Hallock of Bloomington, MN and daughter Joan Hallock of St.
Paul; grandchildren: Stephen, Amanda and Charlie Hallock; Ann, Kee, Chan and
Kyu Fredkove; Kyle and Andrew Hallock; and great grandson, Daniel Katzman.
Also survived by sisters-in-law Ruth Bearman, Betty Laskin and Rosalind
Laskin as well as many loving nieces and nephews. Our family would like to
express its sincere gratitude to Dr. George Morrison, the staff of the
Hospice of the Twin Cities, and the staff of The Colony in Eden Prairie for
providing such compassionate care to our beloved mother and grandmother.
